This project will see St John’s Church of England Primary School, which is located near to Ashton, have two brand new classrooms added to it. The scheme has been in the works for three years, with the school having had to increase its pupil intake over the last six years due to a combination of new houses bringing more families to the area, and a rise in the local birth rate.
It will cost around £1m to complete and will also see some of the areas around the school given a makeover, as well as the construction of a new corridor to link the additional classrooms to the existing ones and brand new toilets. Stationery printers can often be helpful to schools, when they need printed Forms for administrative purposes.
According to the Manchester Evening Times, a report into the school that was published by the council states that:
“Without the extra accommodation the school is significantly overcrowded and insufficient for the pupil numbers.”
The scheduled completion date for work on the extension is late August 2021, which will mean that it is available to be used at the beginning of the 2021/22 school year.
