The annual Christmas markets are a popular feature of the festive season among locals and this year, they will be held using the existing stalls in the town. The festive fun will get started with the switching on of the Christmas lights. The markets will offer all of the usual delights, including seasonal hot food and drinks as well as gift ideas, but they are just a part of what has been planned to celebrate Christmas in Ashton.
The market square is set to be home to a funfair, which will open on the same night as the lights switch on. Then there will be a special event based on the beloved Disney movie Frozen and featuring guest appearances by many of its characters.
As well as this, there will also be a craft workshop where people can make their own gifts and a magical show that they can participate in, all on the first day.
