Ashton-under-Lyne St. Petersfield project nears completion

The final phase of development has begun for a new business quarter in the St. Petersfield area of Ashton-under-Lyne.

The construction of a multi-storey car park, with space for 240 vehicles, will provide the extra parking required for the business hub.

The development of the building is being managed by Huber Car Park Systems International, the company that will eventually operate the facility. Also featuring in the final construction phase is the refurbishment of Ashton Old Baths, a project that will cost £3 million and will transform the building into a business centre.

Work that has already been completed in the first and second phases of the scheme includes a development of two office sites known as 1 Henry Square, the creation of an enterprise centre for Tameside College, and the construction of houses and flats.

Tameside Council's executive leader, Kieran Quinn, said that the council was now a step closer to achieving the vibrant business quarter it had hoped for. On completion, the scheme should deliver opportunities for local businesses and job seekers.

Companies housed in the new business quarter will not have to travel far to obtain the promotional materials they need. They will be able to market themselves effectively by contacting printing companies in Ashton-under-Lyne, which can provide them with items such as Brochures and Stationery.
