Ashton-under-Lyne pub fundraises for defibrillator

A pub in Ashton-under-Lyne has launched a fundraising campaign, with the aim of securing enough money to purchase a piece of life-saving equipment.

Heavenly’s Bar is run by Zoe and Paul Bradley and opened its doors to the public in Ashton last autumn. Now they have launched a bid to raise the £1,200 that is needed to purchase a defibrillator and they were inspired to do so following two serious incidents that took place in the local area.

Speaking to the Tameside Reporter, Paul stated that a man who lived not far from the pub died of a heart attack towards the end of last year, while a woman suffered one not long before that – but survived.

He went on to add that this made them realise that they did not have a defibrillator within the Old Street locale where the pub is based, with the closest one being kept at Ashton Market. Thus, they have put a bottle on the bar for donations from customers. Pubs often use Promotional Products to help with advertising. Paul said:

“When we’ve raised enough for one defibrillator, we’re going to carry on and attempt to raise money for another one. Then we can perhaps install one at Loco Pizza, as they’re always open until the early hours of the morning.”

The campaign is being supported by Councillor Joyce Bowerman.
