Ashton-under-Lyne girl to make film

A youngster who hails from Ashton-under-Lyne is taking her first steps towards a possible career in the film industry, by making a fairytale-inspired short film.

Holly Jacobson is aged 13 and already has significant experience with filmmaking and acting. She began to make short films of her own four years ago and started acting when she was seven. In addition to the fairytale film, she also Plans to create a documentary dealing with her experiences of being educated at home.

However, the main project she is focusing on is a modern adaptation of the Hansel and Gretel fairytale – renamed Harry and Grace – which is a film she has long been keen to make.

Speaking to Inside Tameside, she said she had been saving money towards it for years, adding

“I love seeing an idea move from page to screen and seeing how it adapts and changes as actors and crew all bring their creative talents to the table.”

This new project will represent the fourth short film she has created, with her first effort – entitled Moving On – enjoying major success at a number of film festivals. In addition to using savings, she has also raised over £2,500 towards the budget for Harry and Grace through a crowdfunding website.
