Acton park and museum to celebrate notable birthday

The popular Acton attraction, Gunnersbury Park, is celebrating its centenary with a birthday party towards the end of May.

Once the home of the renowned Rothchild family who held high class parties there - some even attended by royalty - Gunnersbury has stood on the same site for over 300 years.

Ealing and Hounslow Council took ownership of the property in 1926, and it was then that the public were first given access to the grounds. The museum subsequently opened in 1929.

There will be a series of events for all the family to celebrate this centenary year. These include a huge party to mark the occasion, and to showcase much of what Gunnersbury offers. One highlight is an opportunity to listen to live music that celebrates songs from the 1920s.

Also on the itinerary is a tour of the museum and park, and a walk around the community stallholder's market. There will be children’s crafts and popular games and activities, and it is recommended that those attending should bring their own lunch to enjoy on the big picnic blanket available.

Entry is free. Poster printing can greatly assist in the promotion of a public event like this one.

Gunnersbury Park's 100th Birthday Party is due to be held between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm on Monday, 25 May at Gunnersbury Park Museum, Acton.
