The 'Cab It!' guided tour of the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton is an opportunity to sit in the London Underground driver's seat. This will take place during the first three months of the New Year.
Guided by specialist volunteers, it affords individual a distinctive experience; one where visitors are given considerable access to historic Underground trains, and can explore the non-mobile vehicles - most notably those constructed between 1927 and 1983, from the drivers’ perspective.
The types of cabs include the Standard Stock, Waterloo and City Line Tube Stock dating from 1940, and the recently refurbished 1938 Tube Stock. The tour itself is open to all ages, but is likely to appeal to people with a keen interest in, or who have previous knowledge of, trains.
Visitors are divided up into small groups of five on arrival. This will be followed by a briefing on health and safety, and the guide is then introduced. It is also worth reiterating that as a working depot, the schedule could change at short notice.
An adult ticket costs £25.00. Poster printing can be effective when it comes to the promotion of a museum tour or public orientated event like this one.
The 'Cab It!' tours will run from Saturday, 26 January to Saturday, 14 March at London Transport Museum's Acton Depot.
