Windsor fire brings out the best in people

A Windsor family who lost their home and belongings in a recent fire have been amazed at the kindness and support that has been shown to them by their community.

On August 7th, a blaze destroyed their home. Over $220,000 in damages resulted, but neighbors have rallied around to pitch in and help the victims.

A community member put out an ad looking for donations and, so far, enough has been raised to put a deposit on a rental townhouse for the family. However, it’s not only monetary gifts that have poured in.

A manager at the local Canadian Tire has given the family’s two daughters each a fishing rod and tackle, so that they will still be able to take their planned fishing trip, and an attendant at a local gas station has donated a microwave.

Others have taken the family around to look for a new place to live, and volunteered to collect and clean donated items for them to use. Others are reportedly organizing a fundraiser.

An event like this, while tragic, can still have the silver lining of bringing the community together and showing how much good there is in everyone. A company that performs printing services can lend a hand by creating Flyers that let people know about the fire, and to advertise the different fundraising events.
