Being a caregiver for a family member or other loved one can be a rocky road at times, and a Windsor event will offer support, learning and an opportunity to connect with others.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers will be a series of workshops that address issues that are often of concern for those caring for another individual. They will be held once each week starting in early October, and everyone who registers will be expected to attend each session.
The purpose of the series is to help caregivers recognize the importance of self-care, and it will equip the participants with tools they can use for themselves. Its organizers have explained that even if a person is living in a care facility or is far away, their loved ones may still need support. Attendees will learn how to look after their own health and mental wellbeing, and the classes will be led by an experienced facilitator.
One of the tools that each of the attendees in the classes will receive is a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, which they can use to ensure they take time to look after themselves. Handouts for a class like this, such as pamphlets and bound texts, can be sourced from area brochure printing companies.
The Windsor Essex Community Health Centre will be offering its Powerful Tool for Caregivers series starting on October 9th. The final date is set for November 13th, and it will be on offer at 635 McEwan Avenue.
