Windsor course offered for local health care professionals

A course aimed at healthcare professionals will be taking place in Windsor next month, with the aim of helping them to make a positive impact on their patients.

One of a physician's many tasks is speaking with their patients to encourage them to make changes that can have a positive impact on their health. Being able to listen to patients and offer helpful feedback can make a big impact on patients, although this doesn't always come naturally. The training will offer an introduction to the Choices and Changes model of client care, and it is evidence-based.

Those who participate will walk away with new skills they can add to their patient interaction toolbox. They will discover how they can be positive agents for change by learning how they can motivate and influence their clients to adopt healthy choices. The program has been accredited and approved by The College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Registration for this event is free of charge, and lunch will be provided. Manuals and other documentation will be supplied those who attend, and on completion, they will receive a certificate indicating they have completed the class. A printer will be able to prepare documents like these, and can customize them using graphic design techniques.

The Choices and Changes workshop has been scheduled for April 13th. It will be taking place at 7621 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor.
