Windsor boasts best burger

Reader’s Digest has searched the country from coast to coast to find the best gourmet burger, and ranked Motor Burger in Windsor as Number One. The magazine chose Motor Burger’s Deux Chevaux burger as the most tantalizing, tasty, juicy burger in Canada.

The Deux Chevaux beat the Ultimate Moose Burger, a gourmet offering from the Bonavista Social Club in Newfoundland, as well as the Qualicum Bay Scallop Burger in Victoria that combines scallops with tuna-belly bacon, a tangy tartar sauce, and lemon-pickled onions. It also surpassed the Heritage Pork Burger from Charcut Roast House in Calgary, and the Au Pied de Couchon Foie Gras Burger from Montreal which features a venison patty with foie gras, maple syrup, port and red wine mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mature cheddar, and balsamic sauce.

Recipes for the top five burgers can be found on the Reader’s Digest website, including instructions and ingredients for how to make each burger as well as a host of garnishes. Each recipe can be printed or e-mailed to a friend or printing company for multiple Copies. Since each recipe is on a different webpage, you could copy each one and combine them into a single PDF or document before printing to save money on setup charges.

To make the best burger in Canada, start with three beef burgers made with Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar, and salt. Lay them on a bed of baby spinach, then add specialty Dijon mustard, melted Gruyere cheese, strips of smoked bacon, and red onions carmelized in Maudite beer. Put all ingredients in a brioche bun and you will have an amazing, mouth-watering gourmet burger.
