Safe food handling to be focus of upcoming Windsor training session

Careful food handling makes sense from both a public health and business standpoint, and a Windsor class will give those who work in the food prep field the skills and knowledge they need to practice their craft safely.

The workshop, which will be an in-class event, will aid those who plan on taking the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit’s Food Handler Certification Exam in preparing for the test. The required grade to be certified is at least a 70%, and many topics will be covered during the workshop.

The students will be introduced to a variety of topics related to safe food handling, the prevention of food borne illnesses as well as pest control, cleaning and sanitizing, and also receiving and storage. It is $40.00 to reserve a spot in the training session, and there are also online options available for those who would prefer to complete the course at home.

Offering a class like this can be an important part of safeguarding public health. A printer’s graphic design experts can prepare certificates of completion and wallet cards for a function like this to present to the successful learners, which they can then use to indicate they are qualified food handlers.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will be hosting this class on February 10. It will start at 9:30 am, and is scheduled to wrap up at 4:30 pm.
