As of this month, Devonshire Mall will be meeting public demands by making it a little bit easier to ‘go green’ with the help of a new e-bike charging station. A solar bench for charging electronic devices will also be ready for use in the next few weeks.
Located near the Tim Horton’s entrance, the e-bike charging station will allow the public to top up the charge on their electric bike or wheelchair.
Local company Green Sun Rising will also install a solar bench and native plant garden, giving people a place to charge their mobile devices while they relax and spend a few minutes in a peaceful setting. The Naturalized Habitat Network will install the garden, which will include shrubs, flowers and grasses which are native to the area.
Across the city, there are already four solar powered charging stations that were installed by Green Sun Rising. These stations are very popular, and help make it easier for city residents to make transportation choices which benefit the environment. Combined with attractive signage produced by printing services, these will make a welcome addition to the urban landscape.
The stations will be free to use, and it is hoped that, if successful, the program will expand to other Windsor area shopping malls. The other solar charging centers that are currently available are located at Trike My Bike, Scoot a Long, in front of Leddy’s Library on the campus of the University of Windsor and at the Green Sun Rising plant.
