To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Learning Disabilities Association of Windsor-Essex County (LDAWE) resource and support centre, the organization is sponsoring a two day conference on the topic of learning disabilities. The Journey to Success conference will take place at the Giovanni Caboto Club on October 28-29.
Local brochure printers have provided the LDAWE with a three-fold brochure describing the conference. It has a registration form, information on the speakers and the full conference program listing.
The first day of the conference begins on Friday evening and features a cocktail reception, dinner, the announcement of a scholarship winner and a presentation by author Lesley Andrew. Tickets just for the Friday evening are $40. Day two of the conference will feature several concurrent workshops and a discussion panel. The cost just for day two is $50 or $80 for both days.
Day two of the conference features ADHD expert Dr. Russell Barkley will be giving two workshops on dealing with the history of ADHD and how best to diagnose and treat it. There will be a hot lunch served between Dr. Barkley's workshops and those in attendance will have the opportunity to browse informational Brochures and Booklets. Those in attendance can choose between 3 concurrent workshops and a discussion panel; Assistive Technology Software: Strategies for Success, Special Education and the Law and as discussion panel featuring educators, parents and medical personnel.
