Free workshop offered to Windsor health care providers

Health care professionals from Windsor and the surrounding communities are invited to attend a workshop that will give them knowledge and skills they can utilize to encourage healthy living behaviors in their patients.

Choice and Changes, which is an evidence based initiative that has received the approval of The College of Family Physicians of Canada, will equip those who take part with knowledge they can use to improve communication between a health care provider and their client. There will also be opportunities for interview practice sessions where the participants will be able to receive feedback which they can use to improve their interviewing skills.

According to the organizers, one of the goals for the day will be to help the attendees discover how they can encourage positive change in their patients’ lifestyles. The workshop will run for approximately five hours, with a half hour lunch break.

It is being offered on a free of charge basis, and each student will receive a manual they can take away with them. A printing services provider will be able to design and Print educational resources for a course such as this.

The Choices and Changes training session will take place at Cesars Windsor on November 10th. More details can be found by contacting the organizer through Windsor Essex Community Health Centre’s website.
