From August 27-28 the Gibson Art Gallery will be presenting the 45th annual Art by the River; it will be held at the Fort Malden National Historic Site in Amherstburg. Businesses in the nearby Windsor area have probably been busy printing Banners, lawn Signs and billboards for the Art by the River committee to help publicize this yearly event.
Art by the River is an arts and crafts show that takes place on the shores of the Detroit River. Admission to the site is $4.50 for adults and children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult; the show will take place, rain or shine, from 10am until 5pm. The money raised for this event will go to help restore and maintain the Gibson Art Gallery, which is located in a restored circa 1896 train station in Amherstburg.
In 2010, almost 10,000 visitors showed up for the event. This year there will be approximately 135 artists and artisans from Essex County and other locations in Ontario. In addition to the display of arts and crafts, Art by the River will also be providing live entertainment and food concessions. Visitors can also paint a picture in the children’s area or take a historic tour through the grounds of the Fort Malden site.
Art by the River is also a juried art show. Artists who wish to participate must submit photographs of the works they wish to sell to the Art by the River committee.Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Banners
