When it comes to first aid, the physical body often comes to mind, but there can be times when some psychological support may be in order instead, and the Psychological First Aid course will give Whitby learners a thorough grounding in this subject.
To be led by canaPHEM, participants will be equipped with tools they can use to aid those experiencing a mental health crisis, and they will learn what to do until professional help can be accessed.
During the day-long session, the group will develop a greater understanding of how stress, trauma, loss and grief can impact an individual, and self-care and protection will be emphasized. It will introduce the Red Cross model of “Look Listen, Link, Live”, with building resilience being at the forefront.
The registration fee will be $120 per person, and details about the learning opportunity can be obtained by contacting the planners directly.
When making preparations to offer a session like this, the organizer may need to source printing services from the local area, which can supply manuals and certificates to present to the learners at the end of the course.
The date for the Psychological First Aid worship will be May 31st, and it will be held at 1121 Dundas Street East. The registration process can be completed through the canaPHEM website.
