Whitby set to welcome very special guest

For the past 49 years, Whitby has greeted the arrival of the holiday season with a festive parade, and the event is set to return for another year.

The Santa Claus Parade has continued to be a crowd pleaser, drawing thousands of people who line Brock Street to watch the bands, floats and other marchers, and at the end, the jolly old soul will be riding in his sleigh. As the parade goes by, the entries will be judged by the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and JCI Durham. The entry they feel is the best will be recognized in January during the Parade Awards Dinner.

This annual event is made possible through the efforts of JCI Durham, as well as a variety of corporate and private sponsors. Including the Logo Design of the companies that sponsor an event like this can be a great way to thank them for their support.

Those who come out for the festivities are reminded to dress warmly for the weather and bring something along to sit on. Kids can bring along letters to Santa, and these will be collected along the route.

This yearly Whitby tradition will be back on tomorrow, December 1, and is scheduled to start at 10:00 am. For a full description of the event and a map of its route, those who are interested can consult its website.
