Whitby takes great pride in its system of parks and conservation areas, and one of these venues will be celebrating World Migratory Bird Day with a number of planned activities.
Lynde Shores Conservation Area, which can be found at 623 Halls Road South, will be welcoming the return of the community’s feathered friends with a day that will be all about the avian set. As there are only a limited number of spaces available, advance registration is required, and it is anticipated that they will fill quickly.
The function will provide the inside scoop on the birds that call the area home, and there will be information shared about species from all over the world. The kids can make a bird craft, and trivia, a bird ID tip session, spotting hike and other fun is all in the works, and it will be held rain or shine. It can provide a fun way for any age to learn about everything from city local pigeons to warblers, and the email contact for the activity is sustainability@whitby.ca.
A nature-based event can be enjoyed by almost anyone. A flyer printing company can prepare mailers, community guides and other materials that keep local residents abreast of what’s going on in their home area.
The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority and the Town of Whitby will be co-hosting this celebration on May 10th. It will be held at 623 Halls Road South.
