The town of Whitby wants to make sure it meets the needs of all of its residents, and a request has been sent out to the public to help make sure that happens.
In order to gather as much information as possible, a series of meetings have been scheduled, and an online survey has been created. The meetings took place in April and early May, with a final one scheduled for June. The online efforts will be available until the end of May, with printed version available at the different town buildings that can be found throughout the area. Items like these questionnaires can be produced by a printing company.
The survey covers a wide range of areas, including accessibility, what activities and supports exist in the community, what barriers older people encounter in their daily lives, and more.
The information that is collected will be used to help the town create an Age Friendly Action Plan. A grant was received from the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat to facilitate the development of this strategy that includes input from the community and also follows the guidelines set out in the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, which was formulated by the World Health Organization.
The final information session will be held in the council chambers on June 22nd, and the survey will be available on the Town of Whitby’s website until May 31st.
