Originating in China and other Asian countries, peonies have come to be a popular flower in many gardens, and a Whitby area show will be putting them in the spotlight.
Whether they are a wild type, an Itoh cultivar or even a grafted tree style, the Peony Festival, which is hosted by the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens, will put these flowering garden plants front and centre. It tends to be a popular occasion, and if the weather cooperates, many of the site's 300 peonies will be in full bloom.
As well as an opportunity to admire the flowers and learn more about their care and culture, the function will include the Ontario Peony Society’s judged flower show. The Matsuyama Bonsai Society will also be participating and have displays set up, and everyone can enjoy the plants, purchase a bite to eat and take in live music and other performances. The whole family is welcome to be part of the fun.
Themed events like this often call for special décor, which can be provided by a banner printing company.
