Mindful parenting conference held in Whitby

A conference for parents, professionals involved in educating or caring for children and others who may have an interest in the topic was recently held in Whitby.

The Mindful Parenting Conference included a full day’s worth of programming, including information sessions dealing with a wide range of topics. Leading experts in the field helped to facilitate the different sessions, and there was also a lunch and workshops on how to relieve the stress that many parents may feel.

According to the conference’s creator, Valanne Ridgeway, the goal of the day was to provide an opportunity for those who participated to learn more about the concept of mindful parenting. A second objective was to bring together experts in the field and those who are just learning about it so that they can network and form connections.

The first keynote speaker for the day was Anne Douglas, who is a well known parenting expert, while the first speaker for the afternoon was Cate Collins. A variety of vendors and sponsors were available throughout the event. A Print company can design and create Presentation Folders that can be distributed to those who take part in the conference. These can be filled with materials that provide further information and advice about the topic of mindful parenting.

The conference took place at the Abilities Center, which is located at 55 Gordon Street in Whitby. Those who would like to learn more can visit www.localparent.ca/MindfulParenting.
