Meals on Wheels up and running again at Fairview Lodge

A program that relies on volunteer help to provide meals to those who find it difficult to shop and prepare their own is up and running again in Whitby.

A fire in Fairview Lodge forced the Community Care Durham Meals on Wheels system to temporarily relocate their food production to Hillside Estates in Oshawa.

After the blaze, the director of the organization, Ms. Elaine Aziz, contacted Ms. Pazzano, who is the director of food services at Hillside. She was quick to offer her support. The next day, they were able to provide meals for those who had lost their homes in the fire.

Fairview Lodge has been rebuilt, and it is now ready to return to preparing food for those who they serve through the program. She was also thankful for all the volunteers who were willing to put in the extra effort that it took for the meals to be delivered even though they had to go further afield to do it. Brochure printers can produce pamphlets that provide information bout the program for those who may benefit from it or wish to help out by preparing and Packaging food, delivering meals, or in some other way.

Meals on Wheels depends upon volunteer help to keep going. Anyone who might be interested in lending a hand is invited to call 905-668-6223 for more information.
