Fans of tanks and other heavy military equipment who would like to get a closer look at these large machines may want to save the date for an event organized by a local area museum.
The Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum will be hosting a day of activities that will put tanks front and centre. Admission for the occasion will include entry to the museum to browse through its displays of military artifacts, and they can also tour the site’s Military Vehicle Conservation Centre, which houses more than 60 tanks and other equipment.
Those who really want to get the inside scoop on how these pieces of equipment operate will be welcome to take a seat inside one and go for a tank ride, and these are scheduled to start at 10:30 am. The live vehicle show will begin at 1:00 pm, and there will also be Tank Talks and other learning opportunities.
The tank and other vehicle that will be on display will range from ones used in World War Two right up to LAVs and other armored vehicles that were used in Afghanistan. A simulated battle has been planned, and the whole event will be family friendly. It is expected to attract visitors from all over the local area, including Whitby.
