Lacrosse fans from around the region will have a chance to enjoy their favorite sport during Lacrosse Day, which is scheduled to be held later this year in Whitby.
The five minor lacrosse associations from across the area will be coming together to engage in a daylong series of games that will celebrate their sport in the Iroquois Park Sports Centre. It is intended to be an exciting event in and of itself, while also serving as a warm up for the 150th anniversary party for the Canadian Lacrosse Association set for 2017.
The goal of the day is to help raise the public’s awareness about the sport, and to do this, there will be a marathon of games that include players of all skill levels, ranging from minor right up to professional level. Throughout the day, there will also be appearances by many of those who played in the Canadian teams who won world titles in 2015.
The fun is set to begin at 8:00 am, and will go throughout the day, winding up at 8:00 pm. Doug Luey, who is the Green Gaels president and box sector chairman for the CLA, commented that he is pleased to see the spirit of cooperation between the teams.
