The Whitby Chamber of Commerce offers many types of services and support to its membership, and it is hoping these businesses, organizations and individuals will lend a hand with an upcoming local community service project.
Plans are underway for the fourth annual Lynde Creek Cleanup, and the activity is being organized by the Chamber’s Young Entrepreneurs and Professionals Committee, with financial assistance from Meridian Credit Union. It can be a fun team-building activity, and along with the creek clean up, an e-waste drop off station will be set up for the day.
The participants will collect litter, garbage and other debris, and a barbeque lunch will be served. As there will be lots of chances to network, the registrants may wish to bring along high-quality business cards to share, as well as sturdy gloves and an appropriate outfit for the task at hand.
At the e-waste collection station, computers, video cameras, batteries, cell phones and flashlights will all be accepted, among other electronics. These items will be collected and disposed of properly, which will help to prevent them from contaminating the environment.
The date for the Lynde Creek Cleanup has been set for September 17th. Registration opens at 12:00pm, and the registrants will meet up at Lynde Creek Manor before they set out to take on the task.
