Word on the Street to return to Toronto

The 24th annual Word on the Street event is coming back to Toronto for one day later this month.

The festival takes place in several Canadian cities during the month of September, including Toronto, Kitchener, and Halifax. It is a celebration of Books, literacy, and magazine publishing.

In 2012, Toronto's show attracted 245 authors and more than 275 marketplace exhibitors. More than 215,000 people are expected to visit this year's fair when it returns to the city.

There will be a variety of activities suitable for the entire family at Word on the Street. Kidstreet will feature the TVO kid's stage, a children's reading tent, and a marketplace. Poet Dennis Lee will also be making an appearance this year and reading some of his works.

Other authors who have been confirmed for the showcase include Joseph Boyden, L. Marie Adeline, and Joy Fielding. They will be reading and signing Copies of their latest works.

The Exhibitor Marketplace will feature large, medium, and small presses, independent authors, and plenty of children's Books. There will also be 20 literacy organizations on hand to provide information about their programs and services.

Toronto printing companies have likely been very busy helping to design and Print informative literature that will be handed out at the event, as well as the programs, guides, and maps which will be needed by visitors.
