Toronto to transform paper strips into art

A paper quilling workshop will invite participants to explore a decorative paper art technique through a guided, hands-on session in Toronto.

Quilling is an ancient artistic practice that involves winding narrow strips of paper around a quill into designed shapes and gluing them together to create decorative patterns. Intended for beginners, the upcoming hands-on workshop introduces the basic principles of quilling while allowing participants to explore the technique at a comfortable pace. The session focuses on creating a snowdrop composition on a small 5 x 7 inch paper canvas, using colourful paper coils that are shaped, arranged and glued onto the stencil. The process continues as participants organize the cylindrical shapes into the final required design.

The organizer invites attendees to explore their creativity through choices such as background colour and flower placement. Although each participant works from the same canvas image, individual decisions shape the final outcome, resulting in pieces that reflect personal style and remain visually distinct.

No previous experience is required, making the session accessible to first-time participants. The organizer will provide all the materials necessary for the project.

Printing services often support creative workshops like this one by producing instructional handouts and stencils that help participants follow directions clearly.

The session will take place at the Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave. E., Toronto, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
