The site of a cold-war era Air Force base, Downsview Park has been transformed into a green space, and it has invited one and all to go “batty” with a special activity it will be offering this summer.
Alex Israel, MSc, who is a Field Conservation Steward - with a Toronto Bat Conservation Program, will facilitate a session that will be split between indoor instruction and an outdoor walking workshop. The attendees can expect to encounter a variety of nocturnal creatures, but bats will be the stars of the show.
The learning will begin indoors in a classroom setting and will the head outdoors for a guided hike through the park. Even if the group isn't lucky enough to spot bats, the participants will still learn tips for observing them in the wild. They will gain experience with some of the equipment used to study these flying mammals, and while service animals may attend, pets must be left at home.
Many animal species have become endangered, and offering the public a chance to learn about them and the threats they face may help to bring them back from the brink. A brochure printing company can craft Copies of learning materials as well as branded Promotional Products that do double duty by raising awareness of a cause.
This sneak peek into the secret lives of bats is scheduled for July 16th. The registration process can be completed by following the link provided.
