There are lots of factors to take into consideration when planning a garden or other outdoor green space, and a virtual Toronto workshop will teach attendees how to create a landscape that is both aesthetically pleasing and welcoming to wildlife.
Kevin Kavanagh, a Master Gardener, will be sharing his expertise during a session that will take place using the Zoom platform. He will introduce the audience to a variety of ways they can invite wildlife onto their property, and the tips may be useful whether someone has a yard, balcony or even just a container garden.
During the presentation, Kavanagh will introduce some of the basic principles of landscape design. He will explain how this can begin with choosing native plants that offer food and shelter to birds, insects and other animals, and the importance of leaving nurse logs and leaf litter will be discussed as well. Incorporating flowers that provide lots of pollen and nectar is on the agenda, and there will be a chance for the audience to ask questions.
