Toronto waterfront centre to host Canada Day celebrations

The Canada Day Extravaganza will be taking place in Toronto for a week in June and July at Harbourfront.

There will be plenty of activities leading up to a big Canada Day party. These activities include the Sound Clash Music Award Showcase on the Redpath Stage, featuring the five finalists who can win up to $10,000, with the public voting online for their favorites; Bombino, performing on the West Jet Stage; and the OLG Canada Eve Fireworks display. There will also be storytelling, games, visual arts, dance performances, cultural displays, workshops, comedy, and cooking demonstrations.

On Canada Day, guests are encouraged to wear red or white and become part of a human Canadian flag, or wear a flag on their lapel during the Maple Leaf Forever tribute. This will take place on Exhibition Common. The day will also feature a citizenship ceremony, a donut giveaway, and face painting.

There will no doubt be lots of flags of all sizes waving along the Toronto waterfront during the extravaganza. Local printing companies may be helping to provide these national symbols to organizers of this and similar events taking place on our country's birthday.

The Canada Day Extravaganza will take place at Harbourfront Centre from June 27th to July 1st. Admission is free. To learn more about the various activities taking place, call 416-973-4000.
