The 50th annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition will take place at Nathan Phillips Square from July 8 to July 10. It is the largest outdoor art exhibit in Canada and it draws over 100,000 visitors annually. Over those years the printing of the Posters has changed from a plain two-colour pamphlet to a colourful poster that draws the eye.
The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition has been held in Nathan Phillips Square since 1967. In addition to being an event where artists can exhibit and sell directly to the public, it is also a juried competition. In 2010, organizers handed out over $30,000 in cash and prizes. This year, there are over 300 artists taking part in the exhibition. Fine art and crafts which will be presented include ceramics, digital media, painting, drawing, jewellery, fibre, photography, and printmaking. Among the printmakers who will be exhibiting are artists George Raab and Pam Lobb. The festival runs on Friday July 8 and Saturday July 9 from 10:30am to 7:30 pm and on Sunday July 10 from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.
In addition to the art display, there will also be a couple of Art Talks. These will be held in the Rotunda inside Toronto City Hall on Saturday and Sunday. Among those talking on Saturday from 1-2 pm on the topic of The Art, The Artist and the Accolades will be Printmaker Tara Cooper. On Sunday featured speakers include artist Michael Awad will be speaking from noon until 1 pm on the topic of Recall and Revitalization – Building Downtown Culture.Get a Free Quote for Posters
