Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris is showing at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) from May 1-August 26. Tickets are $25, $21.50 for seniors, $16.50 for youth and students; a family pass is $62.50. People will be let into the exhibit at 50 minute intervals to avoid overcrowding. As with most exhibits, AGO members are admitted free; members will also have a chance to preview the exhibit from April 27-29.
This will be the only Canadian showing of this exhibit. The exhibit will feature 147 of Picasso’s works which were originally in his private collection; they cover his 70-year career. The works chosen "reveal his unique vision of the world, and embody his profound responses to it. They lay bare the beauty and anxieties of his time, the horrors of war, as well as his personal passions, desires and fears". The exhibit will include paintings, sculptures, prints and drawing by the artist. Works highlighted include Autoportrait from 1906, The Kiss from 1925, The Bathers (a life-sized six piece sculpture series) from 1956 and The Matador from 1970. The AGO will also be selling various kinds of Picasso merchandise such as Books, CDs and DVDs, children’s Books and prints.
Those in Toronto who work for graphics and printing companies will probably be very interested in seeing this exhibit and having the chance to study the work of a master artist. It is not often that they will get the chance to view so many Picasso works in one place. Get a Free Quote for Books
