The Toronto Maple Leafs Skate for Easter Seals Kids is to take place soon in Ontario.
Anyone who raises a minimum of $150 for Easter Seals will have the opportunity to skate around with their favorite hockey players for an hour; those who raise pledges of over $175 will also receive a special keepsake.
The event will give hockey fans the chance to skate with former Maple Leafs players such as Wendel Clark and Darryl Sittler. In addition, there will be autograph sessions, the chance to take photographs of the players and lunch provided by Mr. Sub. Those who do not raise funds for Easter Seals will also be able to purchase spectator seats which will give them access to most of the activities throughout the day.
Those taking part in the skate can start raising funds either on the Easter Seals Ontario website or by printing out pledge sheets. They can then ask friends, family, co-workers or neighbors to help sponsor them.
Easter Seals provides services for children and youth with physical disabilities; the services include summer camps, recreational programs and financial assistance for mobility devices.
No doubt the organizers of the event will be working with Toronto printing companies to let the community know how they can get involved.
The 35th Toronto Maple Leafs Skate for Easter Seals Kids will take place at the Air Canada Centre on February 24 from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Spectator tickets are available for $30. For more information, call 416-421-8377.
