The RBC Business Advice Series is presenting an elevator speech breakfast at Woodbine Racetrack on August 21 from 7:30 am - 9:00 am. Tickets are $30 for Toronto Board of Trade members and $50 for non-members. Attendance is limited, so reservations are needed.
Everyone who attends will stand up at a podium in front of the room and deliver their 30-second elevator speech. An elevator speech is a description of a business, an introduction to the business owner, and a declaration of the types of companies or individuals with whom the business wishes to connect. Giving the elevator speech in front of an audience will help business experts to perfect that necessary networking tool. They will want to try and hold the attention of the room and to increase their referral network. It will stand them in good stead when they attend their next networking event, as the feedback they get from an audience will help them to weed out any weaknesses and acknowledge what has not worked so well.
There will be the opportunity for networking at the event, so a business card printing order in advance is necessary to ensure there are enough to go round. Each Toronto area businessperson will want to make sure that they have enough cards to hand out to everyone they meet. Those who attend can hone in on those speakers whose elevator speeches got their attention and save a lot of time by not talking to those in whose business they have little or no interest.
