Festival attracts top authors to the city

The 35th annual International Festival of Authors is set to take place for 11 days at the end of October. This event regularly attracts some of the world's best-known writers.

The theme of this year's festival is ‘Remembering the Story: IFOA@35 Remembers the Great War’. There will be several programs and events taking place around this topic. There are also going to be workshops, a poet summit, readings, interviews, book signings, and round table discussions. Some of the authors confirmed to appear this year are Roch Carrier, Peter Robinson, and Ann-Marie MacDonald.

One special event will be the PEN Canada Benefit. It is a conversation with David Cronenberg, who will read from his debut novel, and is hosted by Mark Kingwell. Another notable event is ‘In Conversation with James Ellroy’, in which the author will be speaking with Linwood Barclay.

The festival is widely advertised around Toronto and nearby communities. This involves Posters, Booklets, Postcards, and a variety of items that may have been provided by local Print companies.

The International Festival of Authors takes place at Harbourfront Centre from October 23rd until November 2nd. Ticket prices vary. The PEN Canada benefit will be held at the Fleck Dance Theatre on October 23rd, beginning at 8:00pm. Tickets are $100 each.
