The residents of Timmins are gearing up to help some worthy causes next month, with two events organized to raise some much-needed funds.
The 20th annual Welcome to Timmins Night is presented by the local Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 community organizations are slated to show up, with around 500 guests expected. Information on recreational centers, social clubs, volunteer organizations, and municipal services will all be provided for attendees at the event. People are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank.
A day later, the Parkinson Society Super Walk will be taking place to gather funds for those who are affected by the condition in Central and Northern Ontario. Walks take place every year in various communities throughout Canada, and last year's event saw $3.2 million raised. Participants gather pledges from their friends and family either individually or as a team.
Timmins Print companies have no doubt been busy providing local community organizations with literature to hand out to interested parties at both of the events. Attendees are likely to welcome more information in the form of Flyers and Posters.
Welcome to Timmins Night will take place at the McIntyre Curling Club on September 11 from 6:30 - 9:00pm; admission is free. Those who are interested can call 705-360-2600 x7080 for more information.
