A summer camp that has been scheduled for Timmins will give kids knowledge and skills they can use to help keep themselves from becoming a target for bullying, or stand up for themselves if they are already being bullied.
During the sessions, instruction will be provided in the art of jujitsu, which will give users a way of fighting back without the use of physical force. The goal is to stop the bullying, and verbal self-defense will be including in the training.
Each of the days on which the summer camp is held will focus on a different topic. The learning has been planned so that it will be fun and include physical activity. The goal is to make sure that the campers become “street savvy” and can protect themselves should they ever need to.
At the end of the week, the campers will each receive a T-shirt which has been printed with a custom graphic design. They will also be presented with a certificate of completion that they can display at home.
The Bullyproof Summer Camp has been arranged by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy. It will run from July 29 to August 2 at 74 South, and the registration fee is $189.99 each.
