Hall of Fame to open in Timmins this June

The Timmins Sports Heritage Hall of Fame is finally opening to the public this June.

Local organizers raised over $23,000 for the facility, and the Ontario Trillium Foundation is also expected to help fund it. The Hall of Fame is located inside McIntyre Arena, and features printed plaques with the names of the people who donated funds and local sporting memorabilia. Over 1,300 seats, at a cost of $100, are up for sale to help finance the Hall.

The Hall of Fame is expected to include athletes, teams, and ‘Friends of Sport’; induction will be open to high school athletes, Olympians, amateurs, and other local sports figures. The opening next month will see the induction of between 65 and 70 names.

This facility will likely be a popular draw for residents and for those visiting the city. Organizers are no doubt advertising it within the community; not only to draw visitors to Timmins, but also to attract sponsors to ensure it can stay open. Local Stationery printers might be asked to provide products such as Flyers and Posters to help market the Hall of Fame.

The launch of the Timmins Sports Heritage Hall of Fame is taking place at the McIntyre Auditorium and Curling Club on June 21st, from 12:00pm - 5:00pm. To find out more, call 705-264-6329.
