Annual celebration set to take over downtown Timmins

The Downtown Timmins Holiday Fun Day is taking place next month. Activities will be held at the Timmins Public Library, the Timmins Museum, and the HGS Call Centre.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand at the Timmins Public Library and every child who meets with them will receive a free gift. There will be storytelling, sing-a-longs, and craft activities. Some therapy dogs will be available to educate the public or for petting, as will alpacas, and vendors will also be selling products related to the South American mammal.

Activities at the HGS Call Centre will include free horse-drawn sleigh rides and live music. People will also be able to get temporary tattoos and to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. The afternoon will finish off with a bonfire.

Those who visit the Timmins Museum can enjoy an old fashioned Hollinger House Christmas and learn how the holidays were celebrated in the past when gold mining was the major industry in the city.

It's likely that the venues that are holding events will be decorated. This may include Banners obtained from Timmins printing companies that are used to highlight specific activities or areas.

The Downtown Timmins Holiday Fun Day will be held on December 12 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. To find out more about all of the events taking place, call 705-360-2623 x8431.
