Mississauga yacht race draws crowds

The Port Credit Mississauga yacht race, which concluded early on the morning of July 23, turned out to be a great community event and drew crowds, comprising both supporters and advertisers, to the shores of Lake Ontario.

The winner of the Lake Ontario 300 yacht race chocked in at 5:50 am on Monday morning, with three boats following suit. The Handsome Devil, navigated by Alan Madill of Mimico’s yacht club, was the winner in the city of Mississauga’s 23rd annual event. The race, which involved the circumnavigation of Lake Ontario, began on Saturday morning and concluded early Monday.

The 200-nautical-mile course from Port Credit Belleville and Niagara and back to Port Credit drew 130 yachts captained by people of different sailing skills. Everyone who participated in Monday’s race had a reason for participating; some just for fun and sailing practice, some to win outright, and others merely for a sense of accomplishment and a love of the lake.

Events like the Port Credit yacht race provide local Print companies with many different opportunities designed to promote the yachting association participating in the event. Competing yacht clubs often promote their times through colorful and glossy banner printing depicting their logo, captains, and yacht. Printing companies can help promote local yacht companies, as well as the racers competing in the event.

Observers interested in taking up yachting can easily contact a local yacht association for recreational purposes. Business card printing in local competitive events could also be used to encourage interested spectators in contacting a local yachting club.
