Mississauga workshop to help those who treat PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect those who have endured a traumatic experience, and can hit first responders and military personnel especially hard. Clinicians who work with these populations of individuals, and who would like to make sure their skills are sharp, are welcome to register now for a symposium in the works this winter.

The Mississauga event, which will be focused on the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) techniques in treating PTSD in veterans, currently serving military members and first responders, will take place over three days. It is intended for those mental health professionals who already have a basic knowledge of EMDR and have completed both parts one and two of the initial training components.

As well as exploring the benefits of using EMDR therapies, the workshops will touch on a variety of related topics, including ways clinicians can support their clients through this therapeutic technique. There will also be time for the delegates to share best practices and discuss cases they have worked with and build a strong network of colleagues. Promotional Pens and other swag are often distributed during an event like this, and these can be obtained from an area Print shop.

The Courtyard Marriott Toronto Mississauga West will act as the venue for this learning opportunity. It will begin on February 21 and continue until February 23.
