Mississauga workshop to cover container growing

Whether all they have to garden with is a pot on a balcony or they simply have no more space in their flower beds, an upcoming activity is set to welcome local gardeners.

The Riverwood Conservancy, a Mississauga-based environmental community service organization, has made arrangements to offer an introduction to pollinator-friendly gardening. It is open to the public, and admission is $5.00, with Conservancy members being allowed to attend at no cost.

The joys and challenges of growing in containers will be introduced during the Pollinator-Friendly Container Gardening workshop, and the focus will be on native species that tend to do well in pots or raised beds. Both perennials and annuals will be included, and tips will be shared for finding the right plant for a particular location. Jeanne McRight will serve as the facilitator for the activity.

To help the attendees get started at growing native plants, everyone will go home with a list of choices that may be a good fit for their location and conditions. Stationery printers will be able to provide Copies of handouts and other materials for required for such events.

This chance for local home horticulturalists to pick up some new knowledge and skills when it comes to container going will be taking place on March 8th. It will be held at 4300 Riverwood Park Lane.
