As the days get shorter, Mississauga green thumbs are putting their gardens to bed for the winter, and a workshop will help them to give it the best start possible for the next growing season.
Sara Maedel, who works with Credit Valley Conservation, has prepared a seminar that will provide tips for environmentally friendly gardening, and as it will be on offer online, the participants will be able to sit back, relax and take in the presentation from the comfort of their own homes. It is being presented by the Port Credit Library, and it may be helpful to both newbie gardeners and experienced home horticulturalists alike.
During the session, the attendees will learn how to prepare their beds for winter. The basics of pruning and mulching will be addressed, and there will also be a discussion of perennial division and how to prepare habitats for birds, bees and other pollinators. There will be a review of edging techniques and lots of other information packed into the hour-long event.
While a function like this may be offered online, the host may still wish to provide the attendees with hard-copy learning items, such as pamphlets prepared by a brochure printing company.
The Preparing Your Yard and Garden for Winter workshop is set to be on offer on October 21st. Everyone is asked to log in before 7:00 pm.
