Mississauga event to discuss future of AI

A national policy forum will bring regulators, government leaders, and policymakers to Mississauga next month.

The conference will examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is altering the way regulations are designed and enforced, moving beyond early-stage exploration to discuss how oversight systems are adapting to rapid technological change.

Early discussions about the possibilities and risks of AI have given way to more immediate questions. Organizers structured the event across two days, beginning with a closed training session intended for councils and board members.

MDR Strategy Group and The Regulator’s Practice will co-facilitate the first day and address governance-level challenges, including responsibilities and strategic decision-making. An opening reception and dinner will follow, providing space for informal dialogue among participants.

The second day will broaden into a national forum for Canadian regulators, incorporating perspectives from both domestic and international leaders. Presentations and discussions will centre on real-world approaches to managing artificial intelligence, with attention given to transparency, oversight mechanisms, and institutional readiness.

Overall, the conference is for senior leaders navigating the practical realities of artificial intelligence, emphasizing applied strategies rather than speculative debate.
