Mississauga is a community that’s “on the grow”, and one of its planned events will work to expand its urban tree canopy.
A tree giveaway will be on offer at 3240 Mavis Road, and it will connect local residents with the chance to pick up one tree to plant. They will be native species, and there is no fee being charged.
Both tree saplings and small shrubs will be on offer, and they will provide both food and shelter for native wildlife. It's open to Mississauga residents only, and advance registration must be made.
Hardwoods such as red oak, paper birch, silver maples, and tulip trees will be on the list, along with softwoods including white pine, and anyone interested in fruit bearing types may want to reserve a service berry. Every effort will be made to accommodate species requests, but they will only be available for as long as supplies last. The orders will be distributed during the evening hours on its scheduled date, and requests for trees will be accepted until April 21.
Community tree plants and other environmentally focused activities can benefit from the printing services available at local Print shops. They can offer everything from weather resistant, reusable signage to small Promotional Products to hand out to the volunteers to thank them for their hard work.
