Mississauga celebrates Halloween

Mississauga residents were recently invited to come out to the Streetsville corner of the city to have some fun and raise money for a local group.

The Streetsville Village Square played host to its first ever ‘Streetsville Pumpkin Patch’. A farmer’s pumpkin field had been recreated in the city, complete with hay bales and lots of pumpkins from which to choose.

Kids got to pick their favourite and then decorate it, while enjoying music and hot apple cider. After they finished with the pumpkins, there were other crafts to do as well.

The event was both a fundraiser and a chance for people to come out and get a good look at the new and improved Village Square, which has been under construction for some time. Money and non-perishable food items were collected for the Mississauga Food Bank.

An invitation has been issued for November 1 to bring the pumpkins, plus many others, back to the square. They will be put on display for a Pumpkin Parade, where they will be lit up for their last night, and the one that was found to be the most creative will win a prize. After that, they will be sent to the Region of Peel composted facility.

An event like this is provides chance for people to have a fun opportunity to come together and get to know their neighbours a little bit better. A Stationery printing company can create coloring sheets and other items to hand out to the kids who come out to take part.
