Green-fingers to learn how to reuse rainwater

Like properties throughout southern Ontario, those located in Mississauga often have to deal with large amounts of rain. Rain gardens are one option for this, and Mississauga workshop will offer tips and other advice for how to make use of these, and other, landscape features.

Credit Valley Conservation works hard to preserve green spaces and other natural features throughout the local area, and this initiative is one of its projects. The learners will discover how easy it can be to manage rainwater, snow melt and other run off, and this can benefit the property owner and environment alike.

The facilitator of the event will discuss a variety of ways that a homeowner can address excess rainwater, and these include rain chains, rain gardens and soak ways. Some of these methods, such as rain chains, divert water from a roof or other location into a rain barrel, while others, like rain gardens, absorb excess rain, preventing it from entering storm drains or causing other harm to the environment.

The class is being offered to members of the community at no cost, and it can help the participants choose which methods are the best choice for their yard. How-to guides that offer additional tips and information will be distributed, and these are just one of the types of items that can be prepared by a Stationery printers.

Credit Valley Conservation has scheduled this learning opportunity for October 9. The Vic Johnston Arena will be the venue for the occasion.
