Direct Mail marketing is alive and well, and can still continue to be a highly effective part of an advertising campaign, according to the 2012 Mississauga and Toronto Digital Printing Forum presented to Ryerson University’s School of Marketing Management. The forum was presented on May 24 at Ryerson University campus.
News of the upswing of direct mail will come as an encouraging piece of information for Print companies who provide direct mail printing services to companies who use this form of marketing.
Toby Cobrin, director of Interquest, demonstrated how direct mail is often an essential component of a cross-media campaign. Cobrin’s point was backed up by Kelly-Jo Wellings, general manager for partner development at Canada Post, who mentioned that the most common type of promotional message submitted through Canada Post is in fact direct mail, ahead of email blasts. Wellings also noted that Canadians are far more likely to read personally addressed mail, with statistics showing that some 87 percent of Canadians will read items which are directly posted to them, as opposed to emails which are often deleted or filed away without being opened.
Printed bills are another form of print that shows no sign of decline. Gilles Biscos, president of Interquest, also noted that the majority of Canadians prefer printed bills for simpler record keeping.
Overall, the 2012 Toronto Digital Printing Forum offered positive news for printers in the Toronto and Mississauga area and reinforced the message that direct mail remains an essential part of any advertising campaign. Get a Free Quote for Direct Mail Get a Free Quote for Print
