Santa returns to Markham this month

The 44th annual Markham Santa Claus Parade is taking place this month, and will be presented by the Rotary Club of Markham.

This year’s theme is ‘Canadian Christmas…150 Years’. The parade is set to feature floats, marching bands and lots more. Parade participants will be competing for several awards, including Best Commercial Float, Band and Theme.

The next day is the 32nd Festival of Lights and Santa Festival. There will be horse and buggy rides, street performers such as jugglers and magicians, musical performances and a firework display. Carolers will also be strolling through the street, and a tree lighting ceremony will see Santa Claus make an appearance.

For those who cannot get enough, the 35th Unionville Olde Tyme Christmas and Candlelight Parade will be held early next month. It will feature Santa, floats and Christmas music. Later on, there will be meetings with Santa Claus, a tree lighting at the Millennium Bandstand and moonlight shopping opportunities.

Markham banner printing companies may find an increase in business from parade participants.

The Festival of Lights and Santa Festival will be held on Main Street on November 25 from 6:00 to 9:30 PM. The Santa Claus parade will begin at 11:00 AM on November 26. The Unionville Olde Tyme Christmas and Candlelight Parade will take place on Main Street on December 2, starting at 7:00 PM.
